Key dates

• November – grading for junior teams (U8 to U13)
• Early January – online registrations open
• Sunday 7 February – registrations in person at the King George Park meeting room (Manning St, Rozelle), 10am to 12 noon
• Early February – team formation and further grading (if required)
• March – training begins
• Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 April – first games begin for U8 and older
• Saturday 3 April – first games begin for U6 and U7
• Last weekend of August – final games of the season

Register as early as possible to make sure you are in a team.

Senior players can register their expression of interest for the 2027 season by filling in a short form.
We will have plenty of spaces for junior players, so watch our social media channels to find out how to register.

What your fee covers

Most of what you pay isn’t ours. When you pay in PlayFootball, the payment is split automatically between Football Australia, Football NSW, Football Canterbury and the club. We only ever receive the club fee, and it pays for:

• Ground hire and field lighting
• Match balls, training balls, bibs and cones
• Referee and Game Leader payments
• Team entry fees for the Football Canterbury competition

Your playing jersey is included. It’s loaned to you for the season and comes back to your coach or manager at the end of the year. Jerseys usually last three or four seasons before we replace them.

Under 6 and Under 7 players also receive shorts and socks to keep, in most years.

What you’ll need to buy

• Football boots
• Shin pads. No shin pads, no play, at training and on match day
• Shorts and socks in club colours, for Under 8 and above

Available from the club shop. Last season’s are completely fine.

Hardship Fund

Nobody should have to give up football because of a change in their circumstances.

Our Hardship Fund helps members who are facing genuine financial difficulty. That might be job loss, illness or injury, a family separation, a bereavement, or another significant change that’s made the registration fee unmanageable this year.

The fund is limited, so we ask that it’s used by those who really need it.

To apply, email our Registrar before you register. We don’t ask for documents or proof, and we won’t ask you to explain in detail. We take members at their word.

Applications are considered by the Committee and treated in confidence.

Before you start

Have a photo ready. Every player needs to upload a new photo this year, even if you’ve registered before.

• Passport-style headshot
• Taken within the last six months
• A good smartphone photo is completely fine

If PlayFootball emails don’t arrive

Check your junk or spam folder. Verification codes and password reset emails from PlayFootball land there routinely. This is the single most common problem people hit.

If you last played overseas

If you (or your child) were last registered to play football outside Australia, PlayFootball will flag your registration as pending an International Transfer Certificate (ITC). This applies to anyone aged 10 or over, regardless of nationality, and clearance can take several weeks.

Register as early as possible, and contact our Registrar as soon as you see the flag so we can help move it along.

Register in person

Sunday 7 February, 10am to 12 noon, King George Park meeting room, Manning St Rozelle. Bring proof of ID – birth certificate, passport or driver’s licence. Cash and card both accepted.

What age group should I register my child in?

In most cases, players should register in the age group matching the age they turn that year. For example, if your child turns 10 in 2027, then the most appropriate age group is Under 10s. It is also possible for players to play up age groups but there is a limit of two years.

NSW Government Active and Creative Kids Voucher

If you receive the Family Tax Benefit (Part A, Part B, or both), you can claim a $50 voucher towards your child’s registration, for children aged 4.5 to 18 who are enrolled in and attending school.

Apply through Service NSW, then enter the voucher during registration in PlayFootball.

Late registrations

Following Sunday 7 February, registrations will only be accepted in age groups or teams that have space.

Registering as a coach, manager or official

You will need to show photo ID and have your photo taken. If parents/players are willing to register as a coach, manager or official, it is helpful if they could also do this at the same time as they register themselves or their child(ren).

All officials for Junior teams must complete a Working with Children Check.
