“I would like to nominate Oliver from the U9/9s as player of the month for the way that he played in our last game against Marrickville. Oliver scored four goals in the first half which was a great achievement, but I was more impressed by what he did in the second half. Seeing that we were totally dominant (I later found out that our opposition had a number of under age players) and not wanting to discourage our opponents by piling on the goals, I asked Oliver to hang back and play in defence which he did without complaint and without going forward to score more goals which he could have done very easily. I thought it was a great example of sportsmanship.”
