The mighty Saints 12/1’s played six matches over the October Long Weekend in the inaugural Volkswagen Junior Masters tournament, making it to the Semi-final. On Saturday they defeated the Raiders FC (S.A.) 2-0, Flemington Eagles (Vic.) 7-0, Loganholme FC (Qld) 3-0, but lost 0-2 to ECU Joondalup (W.A.). On Sunday they bounced back with a superb performance in the Quarter-final to win 1-0 against Leichhardt JSC (Qld), but then bowed out 0-1 in the Semi-final to Adelaide City Juniors.
We stayed to watch ECU Joondalup win a nail-biting Final on penalty shoot-outs against Adelaide. They were the only 2 teams to defeat us during the Tournament. ECU deserve their win and will do their Club and Australia proud in Poland next May. So ends a fantastic season and experience for the 12/1’s. Thank you to all the Committee members who have given such wonderful support over 2011 (and earlier seasons) and to the other Saints members who have come to many of our matches. Being a relatively small club team competing in big matches usually against larger outfits, this support has meant a lot to the Boys.
