Congratulations to our Saints Under13/1s who won their Quarter Final match on Sunday representing Canterbury Association in the Champion of Champions Tournament.

Some pundits rate it as one of, if not the, most exciting win of their many seasons together, being down 0-1 at halftime, then 1-1 at fulltime, to go 2-1 with a golden goal in the 19th minute of extra time giving them victory over AC United from the Southern Districts Association.

Zac scored first ( being his first goal of the season ) after a strong run and shot from about 25m out; and the second goal came from a Manning corner headed in by Roy.

“It was as deep as I’ve ever seen these boys dig in for a win”, said one enthusiastic supporter.

Well done to all the boys, Semi-Finals news to follow.

In earlier action on the day, Saints Over30s Women’s team engaged in a tense battle with their opponents from the Sutherland District Association.

They were defeated 2 – 0 on the day ( a goal in either half ) by a very strong and well organised team and though they played very well throughout the match they were eclipsed by a stronger team on the day.

They can be well proud of their achievement in this tournament. Well done to our Women players for a wonderful season.
