At the moment we are busy preparing for the upcoming season and ensuring it is the best one yet for all our members.
We do receive a number of queries at this time of year and have attempted to answer as many of these below:
What are the dates for the 2024 winter football season?
The season will start on April 6th (later for Under 6, Under 7s and MiniRoos) and will finish by the last weekend in August.
Training will commence ahead of these dates, as fields are made available to us by Inner West Council
When do registrations open?
Registrations for the 2024 season will open in Dribl in the first week of January.
We will advertise this on our Social Media channels and send email reminders to all of our members
Why do Saints ask people to register by the Rego & Info Day when the season starts in April?
The main reasons are because it makes our volunteers tasks much easier and less time consuming, and also ensures we submit teams with the right number of players for the upcoming season.
It is important to note that returning players have missed out on being placed in teams in previous seasons due to late registrations.
In 2024 we expect demand to play to be particularly high based on the number of preseason enquiries we have received and would encourage everyone to register as early as possible
Which Age Group should I register my child for?
In most cases players should register in the Age Group they are turning that year.
For example, if your child turns 10 in 2024 then the most appropriate Age Group is Under 10s.
It is also possible for players to play up Age Groups but there is a limit of 2 years
Can I play in a team with my friends?
Yes, if there is a group of friends who wish to play together, please ensure you nominate this on your registration in Dribl and we will do our best to accommodate the request
Again, the earlier you register, the easier this will be for us to put groups of friends in the same team
How many players are in each team?
For Under 6 to Under 9s we recommend 10 players per team and for Under 10s to Under 12s we recommend 12 players for team.
For Under 13s and older we recommend 15-20 players, with our guidance being the older the Age Group the more players you should have in the team
Which Age Groups do Leichhardt Saints undertake Grading for?
This largely depends on demand and the outcome of our November grading sessions.
We will still have teams in those Age Groups we do not run grading sessions for
What happens after grading?
After we complete grading (either November or February grading) we will make offers for our graded teams.
This may take a couple of weeks but we will do our best to let you know as soon as possible
Do I need to accept a place in the Graded team?
Whilst the Club encourages all players who are offered a graded place to play in the graded team we do not enforce this.
Should your child still wish to play with their friends in a lower graded team that will be allowed, however for the best playing experience for their teammates, opposition and the player themselves we do recommend playing in the higher division team if they have been made an offer
What if we are not offered a place in the Graded team?
Leichhardt Saints FC’s goal is to provide the opportunity for everyone to play football at any level.
If you are not offered a place in a graded team, or do not wish to play in a graded team, you will still be able to play football at the Saints as we have many teams across all Divisions.
If there are friends who wish to play together, please ensure you nominate this on your registration in Dribl and we will do our best to accommodate the request
I’m interested in playing for a Senior/Adult team at Leichhardt Saints. What are the next steps?
New Senior players can register their expression on interest for the 2024 season by filling in a short form.
We will endeavour to get in contact with you by early January.
Can I volunteer to help?
Yes, as a volunteer run, community sporting club we are always on the lookout for people to help out, even as simple as running the BBQ on Saturday mornings, or setting up or packing playing fields.
Please get in touch with us at admin@leichhardtsaints.com if you are keen to get involved in any capacity
Do Leichhardt Saints have any paid roles?
Yes, we do have a small number of paid roles for gameday operations.
These roles would suit a student, and whilst preference will be given to those who are members of the club this is not a requirement.
Again please get in touch with us at admin@leichhardtsaints.com if you are interested.
