Player & Parent FAQs

How many Competition Rounds does the Association plan to fixture?
Wherever possible 8-team competitions are to be formed to deliver 14 premiership rounds in the competitive age groups. In the circumstances where it is not possible to do so a 6-team competition format be followed which will deliver 15 premiership rounds for competitive age groups.

If neither an 8 team or 6 team format is possible, then management is given the discretion to structure the competition in a manner which gives effect to a minimum of 14 premiership rounds.

What happens if a round is washed out?
As there is a paucity of fields with lighting to Australian Standards to play night fixtures within a condensed season, should a competition round be washed out, it will not be replayed.

Will there be a break for the July School Holidays?
Time constraints will not permit a break. Fixtures will be set down for every weekend.

Will matches be set down for the first weekend in October?
Yes, the Association expects this will be the final weekend for most competitions. The Association is working to avoid an overlap with summer sports.

Will the Association extend the date for late player registrations?
Yes, the Board has agreed that clubs may register players up to the close of business on Friday, 31 July

Will there be a championship series conducted to determine the competition Premiers?
Time will not permit this and the Association will operate premiership leagues on the first past the post basis. The Association has done this in the past. The team which finishes top of the competition will be the Premiers.

Will the Premiers in the premiership leagues be recognised?
Yes. The Premier teams will be provided with premiership medals and the club name will be engraved on the relevant Premiership trophy allocated to that competitive junior league competition. The Premier teams will be listed in the Annual Report of the CDSFA as is customary.

Can I still register for the season?
Registrations for the 2020 season closed on the 31st of July.
