Our mightly 11/1s, coached by Tony Reed, Tom Browell and Angus Millar, and managed by Howard Charles, are heading to Canberra this weekend to represent Leichhardt Saints in a four-day international competition!

Established in 1991, the McDonald’s Kanga Cup is the fifth largest youth football event of its kind in the world and the largest in the southern hemisphere. Each year around 200 teams from around the world converge on Canberra for a festival week of world-class football competition and cultural experiences.  Past participants have been from Australia, Chinese Taipei, Denmark, England, East Timor, Fiji, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Italy, New Zealand, People’s Republic of China, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, the United States and others.

The philosophy of ‘the Kanga’ is to ‘Unite the Youth of the World through Football.’ This theme is emphasised not only in the on-field aspect of the tournament but also the event’s social program. This program includes; opening ceremony, host nights with local clubs, movie nights, discos and an awards ceremony. The McDonald’s Kanga Cup offers a memorable junior football experience – not just for the players but also the coaches, managers and parents.

No matter what the result, the Leichhardt Saints Football Club is extremely proud of you, Harry, Manning, Lincoln, Monte, Jarrah, Saxon, Callum, Josh, James, Zach, Roy and Cluny. Thank you for representing us, and have a great time!
