Leichhardt Saints FC proudly congratulates the Under 11 /1 team who today won a thrilling Final of their Kanga Cup tournament in Canberra, 3 - 2 in the final minutes of extra time!

The team has achieved sensational results during the week culminating in their Championship victory. This prestigious tournament draws competitive teams from interstate and overseas. You can read all about their lead up matches elsewhere on the website.

Well done to all the boys on their fine efforts. They have made their Club very proud of them all for their exciting on field play, sportsmanship and team work as well as their exemplary off field behaviour.

Coaches Tony Reed, Tom Browell and Angus Millar deserve special congratulations for their hard work and efforts preparing the team and Howard Charles for his enthusiatic and thorough team management and organistion.

Saints Player James Reed won Player of the Tournament for Under 11s.

Five scientific articles are now being published in the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports showing that regular participation in soccer increases both bone mass and bone density, causes a significant improvement in standing postural balance and improves muscle strength. Together, these effects reduce the risk of falls and bone fractures.
