Competition starts the weekend of 4/5 April in 2009, with no games the following weekend, which is Easter. Canterbury District Soccer Football Association has voted in some changes to the way that football will be played at all clubs in the district in 2009, in anticipation of small-sided games being played by all ages up to under 12 from 2011, as follows: Under 6 and 7 - will play small-sided games - 4 a side (under 6) or 5 a side (under 7) on a 30m x 20m field. Most Saints games will be played intra-club at King George with occasional gala days against other clubs. Under 8 - will play 7 a side (goalie + 6) on a 40m x 30m field in a round robin format (ie. playing against different clubs at different venues each week) - same as U7 in 2008. Under 9 and 10 - will play 9 a side (goalie + 8) on a 60m x 40m field. Under 9's will play in a non-competitive round robin format (no publishing of results). Under10s will play in competitive home and away games, but with modified rules (no offside etc). Under 11 and up - 11 a side on full sized field in competitive home and away games. Matches are played: - U6 to U12 - Saturdays between 8.30am and 1.00pm.
- U13 to U21 - Sundays between 9.00am and 4.45pm.
- All Girl and Women's teams - Sundays between 9.00am and 4.45pm.
- All Age Men - Saturday afternoons and/or Sundays between 9.00am and 4.45pm.
- Over 35/45 Men - Saturday afternoons between 1.00pm and 4.45pm.
Players should arrive at the field at least 30 minutes before the game starts, or 45 minutes if you are setting up the field.
